Do People Call You Crazy?

Dear Friend,

Do people call you crazy?

They called me crazy when I was writing my first book.

“You can’t write a book, Lisa. You’re not an expert, books are hard, and you’ve got three small children to take care of.”

I have dyslexia, and some friends even told me it was crazy to write a book if I couldn’t spell! I lost count of the number of times I was called crazy.

There are so many reasons it’s crazy to write a book.

Yet, despite those reasons, 99% of the people who look at my Author’s Program tell me, “I’ve always wanted to write a book!”

We all have stories to tell: unique, personal stories that hold such profound meaning they become who we are. The drive to share those stories is part of what it means to be human. We still gather around the fire (or family television), waiting for the next tall tale of inspiring courage.

Of course you want to write a book: it’s in your DNA. Ignoring that drive? Now that’s crazy.

Do you really get that?

Your desire to tell your story is a fundamental aspect of the human condition. Sharing your personal stories and family history helps create a deeper sense of identity, belonging, and contribution.

Why is it so crazy to write a book? Let’s dig into some of the reasons stopping you from living your dream and telling your story:

Books are long. But they don’t have to be! The average book we publish at H.O.P.E. Publishing House is 200 pages long, which takes under 6 hours

to read. I bet there are dozens of topics you’ve gushed about for over six hours between a few gossip sessions and a glass of wine or two.

Writing is too hard. You got that right! Writing a book is HARD. And, it’s also the ride of a lifetime. It is so worth the effort, and our Author’s Coaching Program makes it doable. We give you specific assignments with targeted writing prompts along our easy-to-follow 25 step curriculum. You’ll find the fun in writing as your writing coach and editor help you to discover the wisdom in your story. Even I, a dyslexic writer with no experience and even less confidence, found joy in writing when I had a team. No pressure to be perfect, that’s what editors are for!

You need to be an expert. You are the world’s foremost (and only!) expert in the ONE thing we want to publish for you: your journey. Only you know your soul and how the things you’ve experienced shaped it. And make no mistake, authenticity sells, because the soul craves truth.

It’s crazy to write a book... but maybe it’s crazier to let that stop you from writing yours.

So yes, I’ve been called crazy for my writing more times than I can count…

Maybe I am.

And maybe it’s time for you to join me.

If you’re ready, take a look at our Author’s Coaching Program and see if it’s time for you to finally write your book. We’ll help you create a published book–and all the cash, credibility, and contribution that come with it–before you can say, “This is crazy!”
